Julep Maven February 2014 Review

Published February 4, 2014 by lonerchicklexie

Julep Feb 14

This month I loved all the colors that Julep was offering and I could not pick a single color of their new eye sheens. So I got the Dramatic Ultimate Upgrade, which was an additional $55. However, it was so worth it. It came with 9 nail polishes plus 1 additional that was a gift to every maven this month, all four new eye sheens, eye liner, eye liner brush, and a shader brush.

I really like these new eye sheens. When I opened the packaging, I was surprised at how small they were. But I compared it to my Maybelline Color Tattoos, and the Julep eye shadow has a bit more product but in a smaller package. You only need a small amount for each eye and it spreads on the eye very easily. My Maybelline product does not spread on the eye as well as the Julep shadow. These shadows last all day without a primer. Last night I went to bed without washing my face and I still had some shadow on my eyes.

Dusty Taupe Shimmer & Pale Nude Shimmer

The only problem this month is that I did not get the eyeliner. When I told them about the missing item, they wanted a picture of the box and items I received. This seemed odd but I did it. They are sold out and will send one once they have more.

Overall this has been my favorite box.

A subscription to Julep is $19.99 a month. Your first box is free with the code FREEBOX . New subscribers can earn a skip every 6 months.

Birchbox January 2014 Review

Published January 18, 2014 by lonerchicklexie

I got my January Birchbox either this week and I was only mildly excited about it. Now that I have the items I’m more excited about trying them out.

Liz Earle Cleasn & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser- This seems like an interesting skin-cleansing product. I haven’t tried anything like it before. The full size retails for $21.50

100% Pure Nourishing Body Cream in Pink grapefruit- These came in three little foil packets. I like trying new lotions but I doubt I will purchase this product. The retail for full size is $15.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle- I won’t be trying this product out. It’s going in the friend bag. Full size retails for $21.95

Ruby Wing color changing nail polish in Mini Kitten Heels- I’ve never tried a color changing product before. It is supposed to go from bright fuchsia indoors to rich magenta in the sun. The only problem is that in January there is not a lot of sun in Wisconsin. I’m going to wait for spring at least before I try this polish. Full size retails for $10.

Ahmed Tea London, Assorted Teas- This was my lifestyle extra. I got Peach & Passion Fruit, English Tea No.1, and Jasmine Romance (green tea). I hate tea. These will go in the friend bag also, which a friend in mind.

Will try all but 2 of the items I will receive. This subscription is only $10 a month so I can’t complain.

Ipsy January 2014 Glam Bag Review

Published January 18, 2014 by lonerchicklexie

So the other day I got my January glam bag from Ipsy. I always peek because I am impatient, so I already knew it was nothing to get excited about.

I received:

Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion in Argan +Rosewater (This product is 100% Natural USDA-Certified Organic)

Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in Pearl

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep conditioning mask

Proactiv Mark Fading Pads (4)

Mica Beauty Cosmetics tinted lip balm in #6 Fiesta

The bag it came smells like cheap plastic. It reminds me of swim toys but the smell is worse. I hope the smell fades with time because I would like to keep the bag since it is more practical than the last two bags I received from Ipsy, although I do like them.

I do plan to try all the products since I have them. I’m not sure when I will try the hair mask since I have a weave in right now. I do not care for Proactiv as a brand. I don’t think it is anything special and I am sick of their commercials. I will try the fading pads but I doubt I can really judge them with only 4 samples.

When I looked at my glam room I was not impressed. I really wanted a sample of Benefits Porefessionals. But I hear that sample was very small. Although this is not my favorite bag I will work with what I got. And it was only 10 bucks!
